Hello there. My name is Cathryn, and I am the newest volunteer to join the incredible staff at The Together Plan. Hopefully, over the coming months, you’ll get to know me as I am the team’s blogger and writer.
I first became aware of The Together Plan earlier this year when I was looking for female leaders to interview. To that end, Debra came highly recommended for her passion and commitment to helping those in her community and beyond. Within the first five minutes of our interview, I was enthralled by the work of The Together Plan. From the origins of the charity, the dedicated volunteer base, the support network it provides both in the UK and in Belarus, and the incredible work of Youth for Youth – I knew I was learning about a truly unique organisation.
When I saw the opportunity to write for The Together Plan, I jumped at the chance. As a writer, I have always been driven by telling stories. Stories are an anthropological essential so that we can learn and grow and as a global community. Storytelling, besides our biology, is one of the few universalities that crosses all social, racial and economic divides – we all tell stories in one guise or another. As a writer, it is my honour to put those stories on paper.
From what I have seen, stories are at the core of The Together Plan. Whether it’s helping families understand the stories of their ancestors or expressing the story of the Jewish community in Belarus through the Heritage Trail – creating something tangible and explorable. Journeys and stories are such a strong foundation of any community, but particularly within the Jewish experience.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and to tell the stories and explain the news you want to hear. There are some incredibly exciting projects coming up for The Together Plan, and I can’t wait to bring you along for the journey so that we can be part of these projects together.
