In the midst of the Coronavirus reality that we now find ourselves in, although it is disruptive and concerning, the adversity may also present unexpected opportunities not yet considered.
It may well be that you find yourself staying in and self-quarantining with your family, you may be cancelling plans and finding yourself with time on your hands that you didn’t have before. Why not make use of that valuable, precious time?
Have you ever created your family tree, told your children your family history, or asked your parents or grandparents to tell you their stories? Many people say to us, ‘I know I came from . . . but I never thought to ask questions and now there is no one to ask.’ So why not start asking, looking, talking and sharing family time, to understand a little bit more about who you are and where you came from.
If you came from Belarus, we would love to hear your story and not only that, we might be able to help you on your journey of family discovery. We have recently launched an archive search service. Could there be documents from your family in the archives in Belarus? If indeed you would like to know if there is Jewish life today, in the places your family came from, please let us know and we can begin to work with you to provide you all the answers we can
Family time matters and identity matters.
These things define you.
Stay safe, take this time, use it well.
