Structure of the elevation of the walls taking shape
The construction of the Brest-Litovsk Jewish cemetery memorial is progressing at a steady pace. The foundations of the arc-shaped walls, which will encircle the central mound where the remnant gravestones will stand as if in an embrace, have now been laid. Work is advancing on the elevation of these walls, marking a significant milestone in this ambitious project.
Despite the dropping temperatures, the weather in Belarus has remained mild, allowing construction to continue uninterrupted. While the absence of snow has been favourable, the team remains cautiously optimistic about maintaining this momentum through the winter months. Time will tell if the weather remains cooperative.
Coordination between the oversight team in Belarus and the designer, Brad Goldberg, in Texas is ongoing to ensure all design features are meticulously executed. With such a significant time zone difference, Artur Livshyts in Minsk is truly burning the midnight oil to keep this vital project on track.
This project remains incredibly complex and challenging, but the vision of creating a meaningful memorial site for the Jewish cemetery drives the team forward. Completion is anticipated in 2025, and each step brings us closer to honouring the memory of those who rest there and preserving a vital part of Jewish history.

Artur Livshyts, The Together Plan’s Country Director and co-founder, eloquently reflects on the importance of this work:
“People come and go, communities appear and disappear, but history, heritage, and legacy stay forever.”
His words resonate deeply as we continue this mission of preservation and remembrance. The Brest Jewish Cemetery Memorial is not just a physical monument; it is a testament to the enduring significance of history and the stories of those who came before us.
Every recovered fragment, every step in this project, brings us closer to honouring the memory of the Brest Jewish community and ensuring their legacy is preserved for generations to come. Thank you for your ongoing support in making this vital work possible.
