As we move forward with our plans to build a memorial at the historic site of the Brest-Litovsk Jewish cemetery in southern Belarus, we are pleased to report that we have entered the final phase of pre-construction works. This significant project, which honours the memory of the Jewish community that once thrived in Brest-Litovsk, is on the cusp of becoming a reality.
Over the past month, our team has engaged in a series of productive virtual meetings with the project’s memorial designer, Brad J. Goldberg, who is based in Texas. Brad has been instrumental in shaping a design that not only commemorates the past but also resonates deeply with those who visit. His artistic vision, combined with our shared commitment to preserving history, is bringing this memorial to life in a way that is both respectful and profound.
We are also in close contact with our major donor in Los Angeles, whose generosity is making this project possible. Together, we have been meticulously reviewing every detail to ensure that the memorial reflects the significance of the site and the memory of those who are honoured there. These discussions have been crucial as we finalise the last elements of the design and prepare to move forward with construction.
Currently, we are in the process of securing the final approvals from local authorities, a vital step before construction can commence. Additionally, we are in the final stages of appointing the construction team that will bring Brad Goldberg’s design to life. This team will be responsible for executing the vision with the care and precision it deserves, ensuring that every aspect of the memorial is crafted to the highest standards.
As we stand on the brink of beginning the physical work, we are filled with a sense of responsibility and anticipation. This memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to the Jewish community of Brest-Litovsk, a place of reflection and remembrance for generations to come.
We will continue to keep you updated on our progress as we move from planning to action. Your support and interest in this project are invaluable, and we look forward to sharing more news with you as we advance towards the completion of this important endeavour.
