building futures through remembrance
Welcome to The Together Plan’s February newsletter, where powerful history, bold opportunity and personal commitment come together in extraordinary ways.
This month we share an inspiring collaboration that will see four remarkable young people from East London step into the opportunity of a lifetime. Through our Making History Together programme, they will not only represent the UK on television in Belarus, but also walk in the footsteps of history, visiting partisan encampments and the longest escape tunnel dug during the Second World War. As part of our campaign to build two new memorials in Nesvizh, we unite remembrance with personal testimony in a moving call to honour the past. Photojournalist Lewis James Phillips reflects on a transformative weekend with our founders, Debra Brunner prepares to climb a mountain in the dark in support of our work, and we spotlight the courage of Alexander Pechersky, whose leadership brought the Sobibor death camp uprising to life and helped bring it to an end.
Together, these stories remind us why preserving memory and creating opportunity for the next generation matters more than ever.
All the best,
The Together Plan team

two memorials, one promise - remembering Nesvizh
This month, as part of our campaign to build two new memorials in Nesvizh, we brought history and personal testimony together in a powerful call to remembrance.

a weekend with The Together Plan - a personal reflection
‘I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. What began as a simple introduction has grown into something extremely meaningful.’ Find out how photo journalist and conservationist felt when he spent a weekend with the founders of The Together Plan.

climbing higher for a greater purpose
We said we would take things to a whole new level in 2026, and we meant it. Setting off at 12:30am in complete darkness, we aim to reach the summit by 5am to witness the sunrise. No daylight. Just headtorches, determination, and the hope of standing at the top as the sun rises over the mountains.

Alexander Pechersky, the Sobibor Uprising and the Belarus connection
Alexander Pechersky is a name not known to many. He was a Jewish Soviet Soldier, imprisoned in Sobibor in Poland for only a matter of weeks but the impact that his presence had is potentially one of the most heroic stories of the Second World War.
