a remarkable year, made possible by you
As the year draws to a close, we invite you to reflect with us on an extraordinary chapter in The Together Plan’s journey, one defined by perseverance, impact, and hope. This month’s newsletter, the final one of 2025, brings together moments that once seemed impossible: The completion of a 12-year campaign with the opening of the magnificent Memory Embrace memorial at the historic Brest-Litovsk Jewish cemetery; the delivery of 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid to those in urgent need; and the signing of a landmark agreement to create a Holocaust memorial in Belarus. We celebrated the registration of a new Jewish community in Novogrudok, the recognition of our work through awards, and the countless individuals around the world we have helped reconnect with their ancestral records and family histories. Alongside these achievements, we share a deeply powerful personal story rooted in Brest, and share with you our latest film, this time uncovering the rich Jewish history of Kamenets in southern Belarus, continuing our commitment to memory, dignity, and Jewish life, past and present.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2025. There is lots in store for the year ahead and we look forward to taking the next steps of the journey together.
Wishing you a happy and peaceful new year

Against all odds - how 2025 became a defining year for The Together Plan
As 2025 draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on a year that has truly embodied the mission of The Together Plan: To honour Jewish history; to support living communities; and to ensure that hidden histories are preserved, understood, and passed on.

He went through the Holocaust in his soul - the story of Zelman Schary of Brest-Litovsk
Zelman Schary was a man who kept his story close, as if protecting a broken heart. A man of very few words, he never spoke directly to his daughter of what he had lived through. Instead, she internalized fragments of his story, passed on second-hand from her mother, herself a Holocaust survivor from Warsaw.

The story of Jewish Kamenets - a tale that stretches across centuries
Jewish presence in Kamenets can be traced back to the 15th and 16th centuries, with records showing Jews passing through or residing temporarily as early as 1465, and by the early 1500s, permanent settlement had begun to take root.
