Raising funds and awareness for a charity can be a tricky business—it’s all about finding the right balance between fun and philanthropy. The goal is always to ensure that everyone has a great time while also contributing to a worthy cause. On September 8th, we’re happy to say that we nailed that balance during our Music and Comedy Evening at the Pump House in Watford. When the night came to a close, guests left with a sparkle in their eyes and a spring in their step.
The evening was filled with sublime music and side-splitting comedy, creating a relaxed, informal atmosphere that kept everyone entertained. The talented Donna Jordan wowed the crowd with her incredible vocals, while TUCAN took the stage and had everyone tapping their toes to their unique blend of contemporary Jazz-Fusion, Soul, Funk, and R&B. Their captivating melodies, hard-hitting grooves, and experimental chords created an unforgettable sonic experience.
The laughter came courtesy of comedian Josh Leitner, who gave us a hilarious glimpse into life within London’s Orthodox Jewish community in Stamford Hill. As Josh’s bio perfectly sums it up: “Day Job – A member of the Stamford Hill Jewish Orthodox community. Attends Synagogue and listens earnestly to the Rabbi’s sermon, until he falls asleep. Night Job – Analyses the community, with a touch of humour and comicality.” Josh’s mix of personal stories and witty insights into Hassidic life had the crowd in stitches.
We are so grateful to our wonderful performers for their talent and energy, as well as to everyone who made the event possible. Special thanks go to Vijay Chandras of Quality Conveyancing and Josh Leitner of Evertex Linens for their generous sponsorship, and to Ankit Govind of TAG Visual Media for capturing the magic of the night through his photography.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised £1600 for our cause, and we’re already getting requests to bring the event back next year—so stay tuned! Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this fantastic evening. We can’t wait to do it all over again in 2025. See you there!
So what’s next on the events calendar? In keeping with the music theme, we are thrilled to invite you to our next exciting event, which promises to be a truly memorable evening of classical music. On November 24th, join us at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London for an extraordinary piano recital by the acclaimed Janusz Piotrowicz, hailed as the “Master Poet of the Piano.”
Piotrowicz, winner of the Nawrocki Prize for the most poetic interpretation at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, will perform a beautiful programme featuring works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Scarlatti, Mozart, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin.
This is a rare opportunity to experience the artistry of a world-class pianist in one of the UK’s most renowned music institutions. The Royal Academy of Music, founded in 1822 and graced with a royal charter from King George IV in 1830, has a rich history of nurturing musical excellence. With its stunning architecture and illustrious setting, the venue provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of exceptional music.
Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in the world of classical piano and witness a master of the keyboard bring timeless compositions to life. Mark your calendars for November 24th—it’s an evening you won’t want to miss!
