Training in preparation for the Snowdon climb
On the night of May 4th, eight dedicated supporters will take on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales under the cover of darkness, not just for the physical test, but for a far greater purpose. They will set off just after midnight and hope to reach the summit in time to see the sun rise.
This sponsored night climb is in aid of The Together Plan, helping to ensure that the charity can continue to “keep the train rolling”, moving forward with its vital work uncovering and preserving Jewish history in Belarus, supporting communities in Belarus, helping people reach ancestral records in the Belarus archives and sending vital humanitarian aid to communities, individuals, Holocaust survivors, people with disabilities and families in need of support.
Once at the heart of the Pale of Settlement, Belarus was home to rich and vibrant Jewish communities. Much of this history, however, was suppressed during the Soviet era, leaving stories untold and heritage at risk of being forgotten. Those who survived the Holocaust were silenced, unable to tell their stories of suffering.
Through the work of The Together Plan, these hidden histories are being brought back into the light. With every archive uncovered, every story documented, and every connection made, more people are coming together to understand a past that was silenced for far too long.
That is why this challenge matters. As the team climbs through the night, step by step, they are helping to power the charity’s mission – to explore, research, and revive not only the memory of these communities, but the cultural heritage of Soviet Jews that still resonates today.
At a time when preserving truth and history feels more urgent than ever, your support can make a real difference.
