The The Together Plan is pleased to share an important update on the Nesvizh Memorials Project, an initiative dedicated to preserving and honouring the memory of the once-thriving Jewish community of Nesvizh.
progress so far
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, $26,500 has already been raised toward the project. This marks a significant step forward, but the charity is aiming to reach its full target of $50,000, which will allow the memorials to be created and installed according to their complete vision.
the memorial plans
The project will be carried out in stages:
- first installation:
A commemorative marker will be placed in the park that once served as the Jewish cemetery, ensuring that visitors understand the historical significance of the site. -
main memorial:
The central feature will be a powerful sculptural piece—a granite Hebrew letter Chai (symbolising life), set upon a granite book representing the “Book of Life.”If needed, this structure can be constructed in sections. However, reaching the full funding goal will make it possible to create the memorial from a single piece of granite, enhancing both its durability and symbolic impact.
reaching the Nesvizh community
An important next step for the campaign is connecting with members of the Nesvizh diaspora, particularly those now living in Israel. The Together Plan hopes to raise awareness among descendants and community members who may feel a deep personal connection to this project and wish to be involved in commemorating their heritage.
looking ahead
At the end of May, Debra Brunner will travel to Belarus and visit the proposed memorial sites in Nesvizh. During her visit, she will document and share updates with supporters, offering a closer look at the locations where remembrance will take shape.
Following this visit, The Together Plan will review progress and determine the next steps in bringing the memorials to completion.
This project is not only about marking physical spaces, it is about restoring memory, dignity, and historical truth. With continued support, the vision for Nesvizh can be fully realised.
